Led Zeppelin, an English classic rock band, decided to create their own record label after their contract with Atlantic Records ended in 1963. The band used the image of Icarus, a figure from Greek mythology, as the logo for the record label. The band wanted other musicians finding it difficult to sign on with a major record label to still have a chance to record their music.
