Motörhead was an English rock band formed in London in 1975. One of the most well-known members, Lemmy, was also the primary songwriter and only constant member through the years. The band is often considered a precursor to a new wave of British heavy metal and has released a large number of albums and live recordings during a career spanning 40 years. They had particular success in the early 80s with several hit singles. Motörhead has been credited with influencing numerous musical scenes; thrash metal, and speed metal especially. Their lyrics typically covered topics such as war, good versus evil, abuse of power, promiscuous sex, substance abuse, and even gambling. Fun fact: the name "Motörhead" is actually a reference to users of the drug amphetamine or people who like speed.
