Mastodon is a heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia that was formed in 2000. They are well known for their albums being concept pieces and focus on telling a story more than anything else. They started to become popular after the release of their second album, "Leviathan" which was based on the story of Moby Dick. The following year they went on their first big tour, playing throughout North America and Europe, alongside bands like Slayer, Lamb of God, and Slipknot. They continue to make and perform music today, releasing their most recent album in 2021.
