Talking Heads - Remain in Light (LP)

$29.99
Can you micro-manage improv? Talking Heads say yes.

"Remain in Light" is the 4th studio album by Talking Heads, and their final album produced by Brian Eno. The album was produced primarily through stream of consciousness and manicured improvisation. The lyrics were written to be onomatopoetic stream of consciousness and the instrumentals were brought about by recording jam sessions, selecting the best parts and learning to play them in repetition. The album was named the Best Album of 1980 by the publication Sounds. It peaked at #19 on US Billboard 200. The album is heavily inspired by both African music and mythology.  The band Radiohead cites "Remain in Light" as a huge influence on their album "Kid A".

Talking Heads was an American new wave band that formed in the mid-70s. They are most known for their innovative music style and the oversized grey suits they often performed in. They were former art school students who became involved in the 1970s New York punk scene. Talking Heads played the famous CBGB (and even opened for the Ramones!) for 2 years until releasing their self-titled album in 1977. Talking Heads hit their commercial peak in 1983 with the hit "Burning Down the House". By the time of their breakup, they had recorded everything from art funk to polyrhythmic worldbeat explorations and melodic guitar pop.
