CBD Do's and Don'ts

CBD Do's and Don'ts

A guide to getting the most out of CBD by your local New Orleans smoke shop.

With so many options and so much information and pseudo-information out there about CBD, you may be wondering whether CBD is even worth trying. And, if it is, where to get it, how to use it, etc. To help you find the safest, most effective CBD product for you and help you use it in the safest and most effective way, here are some do's and don'ts.

DO check lab results.

Ideally, CBD products are tested for traces of THC, other cannabinoids, solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and other harmful components. Reputable companies use independent third-party labs to rigorously test CBD products for potency, purity, and quality. And reputable companies make the results easily and transparently available to you.

It's important to know what's in your CBD. You can usually access the most recent testing results and certificates of analysis on company websites or by scanning a QR code on the package.

DO buy from a reputable source.

Knowing where your CBD product was made, what's in it, and where the hemp was grown are also crucial, as are the methods of extraction and testing. If an online store or the employees at your local smoke shop can't give you the information you need, including lab results, move on. Choose only reputable sources.

At Mushroom New Orleans, all of our products are lab-tested to verify quality, purity, safety, and reliability, and our products comply with all local and federal regulations.

DO learn about the different types of CBD products and how they work.

There are many CBD products out there, and the variety can be a little overwhelming if you're just becoming acquainted with them. Start by learning about the different strains of hemp and the differences between full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolate. Each of these has unique properties and benefits and, depending on your needs, may work better for you than another kind of CBD. For example, a topical is best for treating localized relief, while CBD oil under the tongue can help promote better sleep.

DO be consistent.

Using CBD requires consistency. Take the same amount each day for about two weeks before deciding whether it's working for you.

DON'T expect immediate results.

Although you may feel relief after about 30 minutes, CBD won't produce an effect instantly. Unless you are using a topical, the results won't be immediate or even pronounced. If you are ingesting CBD, it takes time for it to reach the bloodstream. But you will feel it soon enough.

DON'T start with a large dose the first time you try CBD.

Since CBD is nontoxic and nonaddictive, you can experiment with dosage without worrying about overdosing. But we still suggest that you start small. Then, if you're not getting the results you want, gradually increase the dose until you do start getting them. There are many reasons that CBD may not be as effective as it could be, including underusing it or not taking it long enough.

DON'T think of CBD as a cure-all.

CBD offers many wellness benefits, but it cannot produce miracles. Also, more research needs to be done so that we may more fully understand its effects and potency, and the benefits of each method of using it.

DON'T expect to feel high.

Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. So you cannot get intoxicated after using it. To be federally legal, a CBD product must have less than 0.3% THC. Many CBD products contain zero THC.
