During a live concert at the San Quentin State Prison, photographer Jim Marshall asked Johnny Cash if he could take a photo for the warden, and this was Cash's surprising response. Cash conveyed more feelings by flipping the bird than any words could express. At the time this photo was taken, Marshall would never have imagined what an iconic image it was to become.
